Unexpected Harvest, Why We Should Never Stop Asking

It has been an incredibly exciting season for our ministry as we move toward new horizons. Lately, we’ve been planning to teach in new communities, driven by a mission to reach more people in need. Our goal is twofold: help them learn to live a healthy life physically, and guide them to know Jesus better or, in many cases, to know Him for the very first time.

Just the other day, I experienced a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.
I was at a school teaching a health lesson about the human body to a class of 7th and 8th-grade boys. As we were chatting, the conversation naturally shifted, and I asked one of the boys a simple question about his church.
He looked at me, confused, and asked, "What church?"
Realizing he didn't attend one, I took a step further and asked if he had ever accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He looked at me and said, "No."
A prompting in my spirit told me not to stop there. I turned to the rest of the classroom and asked the whole group: "How many of you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior?"
To my surprise, the entire class answered no. Seeing their curiosity, I asked one final, life-changing question: "Would you like to accept Jesus into your hearts today?"

With one voice, they all said yes.
My friend and ministry partner, Gerardo, stepped up and beautifully led those young men in a prayer to invite Jesus into their hearts. And the story didn't end there—the exact same thing happened right afterward with the 5th and 6th-grade classes!
"The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few." — Matthew 9:37
This experience was a profound wake-up call for me, and I wanted to share it to remind all of us of a simple truth: never assume.
No matter where we are—even in places we think are already reached—there are so many people who do not know Jesus. They are just waiting for someone to care enough to ask.
Don't be afraid to start the conversation. Just ask them if they know Him. If they don't, you might be absolutely surprised by how many hearts are already open, ready to know Him, and just waiting for someone like you to lead the way.
How about you? Have you ever had an unexpected conversation about faith that completely surprised you? I'd love to hear your stories in the comments below!
